API is sponsoring a Virtual Facility Integrity Workshop (FIW) on January 19, 2022 10:00 am – 3:00 pm Central Standard Time. Industry statistics show that releases at liquids pipeline facilities continues to be the most significant source of incidents reported to PHMSA and a focus for pipeline operators. The FIW will provide an opportunity for pipeline operators to share best practices, transfer knowledge, and identify improvement opportunities that relate to Facility Integrity programs and practices. Specifically, the workshop will be centered on application of API RP 1188, Hazardous Liquid Pipeline Facilities Integrity Management, which will be published in January 2022. The FIW will include presentations and panel discussions providing pipeline operator perspectives to addressing facility integrity challenges through case studies case studies and approaches operators are applying to address Facility Integrity inspection practices.
Topics to be addressed will include preventive and mitigative measures, mechanical and engineering reliability, and risk management. Presentations in the FIW sessions will relate how RP 1188 could have been (or will be) applied to prevent or minimize impacts from facility incidents and strengthening Facility Integrity inspection programs. There will also be an opening presentation on the content and key elements of RP 1188, and a presentation summarizing facility leak data and how the findings from analysis of the incidents can be used to drive improvements in Facility Integrity engineering design, reliability, and inspection and maintenance programs. A closing moderated panel discussion and open Q&A for workshop participants will be held as the final session of the workshop.
